Green Up Luton

2010 02 04 - 09:48 | Jeremy

Could you travel more sustainably, reduce the amount you throw away, or cut your energy bills? The council is laying down a challenge to ten Luton households to reduce their environmental impact as much as they can, as part of the Green Up Luton Challenge. The ten households will compete over the course of three months, documenting their progress, and the household that reduces their environmental footprint the furthest will win a £500 rebate on their council tax.

Entrants will be given eco-gadgets to help them along, including energy meters, and council officers will be on hand to offer advice and suggestions. The LutonLine newspaper and council website will track the entrants' progress throughout the challenge, highlighting the money that can be saved by living more sustainably as well as the environmental benefits. Hopefully the challenge will inspire plenty of other households around Luton to 'green up'.

The competition is now open for entries. If you're up for the challenge, and are ready to document your progress and share your story, you can enter here.

Hi, I would encourage everyone to sign up. Getting help with going green and the chance to get £500 rebate on your council tax bill if you win, can not be bad.
